There are times in the studio when a body of work begins to speak before the artist fully understands what it is saying. That is how The Amazing Light began for me. It started not as a fixed idea, but as a growing recognition that light is more than something we see with the eyes. Light reveals. Light guides. Light gives form, direction, and meaning. In this new collection, I am exploring light as a living presence — something spiritual, something deeply human, and something that reminds us that we are here for a limited time.
As I continue working on these paintings, I find myself drawn again and again to the same central truth: life is short, time is valuable, and eternity exists. That belief shapes not only how I live, but how I paint. I want these works to do more than fill a wall. I want them to touch the heart and soul. I want them to invite the viewer to pause, look more slowly, and consider the quiet but powerful light that exists within all people.
In The Amazing Light, I am focusing on exposing and maximizing the effect of light through color, texture, transparency, and layering. These paintings are not built quickly. They grow through process. One-layer leads to another. One surface invites another response. In that way, the work becomes a kind of conversation between paint, spirit, and time. The result is meant to be felt as much as seen.
I have always believed that strong paintings carry more than appearance — they carry presence. That is why I continue to value depth, composition, and strong focal points. The law of thirds normally places the focal point away from the center of the canvas to guide the eye while still leaving room for mystery, but sometimes the message appears boldly center focused. Maybe it wants more attention. It does not just illuminate the painting; it gives the painting its reason for being.
This collection is also rooted in gratitude. I am grateful for the chance to keep painting, keep learning, and keep speaking through color and surface. At this stage in life, I feel even more strongly that art should honor what matters most. If a painting does not touch you in a positive way, then it is not the right piece for you. But if it does speak to you, then it can become part of your daily life, your reflection, and your living space in a meaningful way.
That is what I hope for the collectors of my work — not simply ownership, but enjoyment. Not just decoration, but connection. A painting should give something back each time you live with it. It should continue to reveal itself over time, much like light itself.
The series, The Amazing Light is still in progress, and I believe that is exactly where it should be. Some ideas need time to unfold. Some truths are best revealed gradually. And some paintings must grow layer by layer until they become what they were meant to be.
This collection is my way of listening to light, responding to it, and allowing it to speak through the paint.
