Architect of Presence is the voice of an artist who builds meaning as carefully as he builds surface. It is contemplative, spiritual, evocative, and inviting. It speaks with quiet confidence, emotional honesty, and a reverence for mystery.
This voice does more than describe art. It creates atmosphere. It invites the viewer into a space where color, texture, gesture, and spirit meet. The work is not presented as decoration, but as presence—alive, layered, and deeply felt. My artistic voice is rooted in presence, intuition, and reverence for the unknown. I build paintings the way one might build a prayer, a memory, or a place to dwell—layer by layer, response by response, allowing the work to reveal itself gradually. I am interested in what emerges when control and surrender meet on the canvas.
My voice was shaped by my lifetime in Texas, from the South Plains and Panhandle to the Gulf Coast, Hill Country and North Texas. I have always responded to sand-blown buildings on the South Plains, the carved surface of the Panhandle, the waves on the beaches of the Gulf, the beauty of the woods and lakes of North Texas, and the unique actions of limestone and live oaks in the Hill Country. These find their voice through texture, color, gesture, and material to create paintings that feel alive. Acrylic, oil, mixed media, palette knives, wedges, and found surfaces all play a role in that conversation. My process is physical, but it is also reflective. I want the surface to hold evidence of touch, time, revision, and discovery.
