I am an abstract expressionist and abstract-realism artist—not by preference, but by necessity. Painting is the rhythm of my nature, a language etched into my bones. I’ve been creating in one form or another for most of my life, and for over thirty years, I’ve shared that work with others. Alongside this journey, I’ve explored more of life than I could ever write about.
Abstraction often speaks to a deeper truth than realism ever could. The material world is fleeting—here for a moment, then gone. But the abstract, the spiritual, the unseen—these endure. They move through me, stirring something eternal in my spirit. My paintings emerge from intuition, emotion, and instinct. Often, they arrive unannounced, as if the canvas itself is leading the way. I work with a range of media and tools, embracing spontaneity and texture to give form to what cannot be spoken. While creating brings me joy, the deeper joy comes when others step into the abstraction and find themselves mirrored in the work.
My story is much like many other's in America. We have a dream that we seek contrasted against what we must do to provide for ourselves and our family, and sometimes side-tracked by bright shiny objects. If we manage to achieve our dream, all too often we find it to be an empty vessel, a ghost that really only existed in our minds. I went from selling doughnuts door to door at eleven to managing a Walmart at thirty and graduating from college at fifty. I was a bi-vocational pastor for ten years and Director of IT, Creative Services, and Press for a newspaper group. I worked a year as a carpenter's helper's helper, sign-painter, Church worship leader, school teacher, and owned and operated an art gallery and online art supply store.
Today, I live and make art north of Dallas Texas. I hold a degree in Art Education, I am a graduate of the Milan Art Institute Mastery Program. I am deeply carved by both experiences and a life of moving around Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. Making art, and family is the crown on top of it all. I love my life!
