"Abstraction allows man to see with his mind what he cannot see physically with his eyes." - Arshile Gorky

The Process
The abstract might not have a physical or concrete existence, but it certainly is real. Some describe abstract thoughts as intuition, gut feelings, or a sixth sense. For me, painting any subject is an abstract process, rooted in both learned and innate knowledge developed throughout my life. It emanates from deep within, whether as a calculated decision or an instinctive response. Regardless of its origin, it resides in the realm of the abstract.
In my creative process, I work with mixed media, employing any medium that aligns with my core, instincts, or intuition. Primarily, I use acrylics, oils, and various marking or drawing tools like water and oil-based markers, pastels, charcoal, and graphite, along with an array of paint mediums. My work may incorporate collage, spray paint, gold leaf, powdered pigments, inks, stencils, and more.
I typically begin a painting with a base layer created from fluid acrylic paint, inks, collage, or drawing materials, or I might dive directly into the acrylic composition. The creation unfolds as a series of layered acrylic applications, each with marks that may be partially or entirely covered. Oil paint glazes, opaques, and additional oil-based marking materials are layered on top.
My primary tool for paint application is silicone wedges, introduced to me during cold wax painting experiments. For smaller

details, I use palette knives and rarely employ brushes in the initial acrylic stages. When transitioning to oils, I use palette knives and brushes for glazes, details, and highlights.
My aim is to connect with people through the universal creative spirit. Life isn’t solely about concrete, understandable facts; it comprises abstract elements that elude touch and comprehension. My work utilizes tangible elements like color, shape, line, and texture on canvas or wood, creating art that can be sensed. But it is the intangible, abstract elements that created and sustain the world. These can only be felt with the heart, mind, and spirit. My goal is to evoke a sense of that abstract spiritual experience.
